Weekly Update: January 13th-16th 2025
Hello Families,
Despite the short week, our students have been busy engaging in lots of exciting learning opportunities. From hands-on activities to new classroom projects, it’s been a week full of growth and fun!
We’re excited to share that our Student Leadership Team is working on some new, exciting Spirit Days and a fun school-wide activity! Stay tuned for more details coming soon – we can't wait to get everyone involved!
Regular attendance is essential for student success. Consistent attendance ensures that students fully participate in learning, build important skills, and collaborate with classmates in order to make the most of lessons and discussions. We encourage all families to prioritize regular attendance and notify the school in case of any absences.
Our School Council will be launching the annual Chocolate Bar Fundraiser!
A letter outlining the details as well as permission to participate forms will be shared with families early next week!
Gentle reminder
A quick reminder to please be mindful when parking during drop-off and pick-up times. We kindly ask that you avoid double parking and ensure that you are not idling in parking spaces. This will help ensure that staff members have access to parking, especially during the busy morning hours.
Inclement Weather
There are times in Niagara when weather conditions are so poor that student transportation must be canceled, and/or schools closed to preserve the safety of students and staff. The decision to cancel transportation and/or close schools is not taken lightly; a variety of factors are considered when making this choice.
- TRANSPORTATION CANCELLATIONS: When transportation is canceled, every effort is made to communicate the decision by 6:00 am on the day of the cancellation. There are times when transportation is canceled, but schools remain open. If, on those days you feel it is best for your child to stay home, please report your child’s absence so we can make sure they are safe at home.
- SCHOOL CLOSURES: When the decision to close schools is made, it refers to all schools: both in-person and remote learners. Every effort will be made to share school closure information before 6:00 am on the day of the school closure. You will find it on dsbn.org, all school websites, and DSBN social media. Local media share the news widely, and I will send out a school messenger as soon as I know.
